OUR FRIENDS IN TOWN
Alaska Kayak Company wants our guests to experience the best Ketchikan has to offer. We know that the Ketchikan experience doesn’t just begin and end on our tour, it extends to the shore. We are excited to share our favorite places, brands, community groups, and things do in Ketchikan.
WIldfire & Sage sells a variety of small batch products made by hand right here in Ketchikan, Alaska. The owner, mix master and magic maker only uses sustainably hand harvested wild herbs and organically sourced cultivated plants in her blends.
You can buy her products at select shops in town or in her online store.
Ketchikan Dry Goods is our favorite boutique and gift shop! This locally owned shop is in the heart of historic downtown Ketchikan. KDG always has a great selection of beautiful handcrafted goods and it regularly features the work of artists and artisans from throughout Alaska.
They are open year-round and are a great spot for everything from one-of-a-kind souvenirs to Christmas shopping! Find them online at www.ketchikandrygoods.com.
We take our role as stewards of our environment seriously and that means we enthusiastically support the organizations working to protect our home. Without the work of non-profits like SEACC there might be a lot less Tongass National Forest left to appreciate. Members include Alaskans from all walks of life including: fishermen, hunters, scientists, small saw millers, Alaska Natives, hikers, paddlers, and small business owners like us who live, work, and play in Southeast Alaska.
If you enjoyed your cruise through the beauty of the Inside Passage, consider supporting their work to preserve this landscape and its ecology for generations to come! Visit www.seacc.org to find out more.
The New York Cafe is located in a historic downtown Ketchikan hotel, and offers some of our favorite food, beer, wine, coffee and baked goods in town.
They serve fresh, local seafood and American and Mediterranean cuisine with vegetarian options and source as locally as much as possible. The restaurant has an excellent view of historic Thomas Basin and frequently hosts community events like poetry slams and live music.
NY Cafe is open for everything: breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, coffee, a glass of wine, or a flight of beers.
Kayaking is our favorite thing to do on the beautiful waters of the Inside Passage, but fishing is a close second.
We share a dock and a deep enthusiasm for the Alaskan wilderness with the staff of Baranof Fishing Excursions. Like Alaska Kayak Company, Baranof Fishing Excursions is locally owned and operated by passionate folks dedicated to showing you the best Southeast Alaska has to offer.
If you are looking for a local fishing excursion, book with them at www.exclusivealaska.com.
